Description

Virgin Slave, Barbarian King is the first book that I have read by this author and is a roman historical romance. So I liked this one way more than I did the last Louise Allen book I read.

Virgin Slave, Barbarian King is the first book that I have read by this author and is a roman historical romance. There are too many books that take place in that time period, so I just had to read. Пользовательский отзыв - TLMorganfield - LibraryThing. Still some instances of strange sentence formation that had me rereading, but at this point I'm guessing it's a stylistic.

Virgin Slave, Barbarian King Mass Market Paperback – November 20, 2007. by. Louise Allen (Author). Find all the books, read about the author, and more. Louise Allen has been immersing herself in history for as long as she can remember. She finds landscapes and places evoke powerful images of the past - Venice, Burgundy and the Greek islands are favourite destinations. Louise lives on the Norfolk coast. the characters were well written and easy to fall in love with. i enjoy novels were the heroin falls for the bad guy(who isn't really all that bad).

Julia Livia Rufa is horrified when barbarians invade Rome and steal everything in sight. Books related to Virgin Slave, Barbarian King.

Virgin Slave, Barbarian King book. This is Louise Allen, in my opinion the only decent writer currently writing for Harlequin Historical, at her very best. I don't like to read historical romances, especially those set in Ancient times, that play out like a sitcom (at first, they couldn't stand each othet, then they fell in love, bla bla bla). Soon, though, Julia realizes that she's more free as a slave than she ever was as a sheltered Roman virgin. It would be all too easy to succumb to Wulfric's quiet strength, and Julia wants him more than she's ever wanted anything.

As other reviewers have already said, I loved the different setting and time period. I also loved the H and h, they were well written and appropriate for the time period I think. I hated the fact that right from the start of their intimate relationship there was always the sense that it was temporary and that the H would marry for political advantage. I'm convinced that it was the way of things in those times but I always like commitment when the main characters become intimate. t's not a favourite plot line for me that the other woman was waiting in the wings and was so jealous of the h. I totally didn't enjoy it when the other woman and the h had a physical fight over the h being a whore and having some jewellery from the H. This lack of commitment and uncertainty went on for way too long into the book. The ending was really good and made up for a lot though.

A great combination of pace and detail keep this already intriguing plot emotionally irresistible. How refreshing to see culture and personality fully formed for both characters who still manage a believable love story!

the women are strong minded and not "ninnies" to use the British term. i felt more of as connection with the female lead as she was strong willed and followed her heart even though it wasn't the easy choice! The ending was well concluded and heartfelt!

Overall i definitely recommend this book to any romantic!

I was pleasantly surprised in how much I enjoyed this book. I agree with the other reviewers that this is a nice change of pace for historical romance. The settings, characters and plot were refreshing. There were no (or very little) silly misunderstandings or outlandish stubbornness you come to expect from historical romance. I also liked that there was another female character challenging the lead female protagonist for the gorgeous hero. It was an added twist and a realistic situation. The quick ending was a little predictable, but definitely worth a read.

The title of this book is beyond horrible. It's almost the kind of title, even in e-format, that you are embarrassed to purchase. I'm glad I listened to other reviewers to ignore the title because the book was actually a good read. This book has it all from fight scenes and imagery to sexual tension and good character development. I was surprised at how many characters were able to be developed in a relatively short amount of time. Being an animal lover I also had an affection for the wolf. Interesting, and different setting than the usual historical romance set in England with Lords and Ladies, I think you'll find this a good read with a more realistic ending.

Must say, It was like eating stale chocolate this one, but that's how I seem to find a lot of the Harlequins. It lacked something. Maybe it was tension, edge to the characters or depth. Wulfric was too good. Bordering boring. I liked his squire better, he developed more through the story. The whole master/slave thing can be very interesting to play with but it was never fully explored in my opinion. If I find myself wanting to rewrite many passages in a book to make it interesting I find it was a waste of money.

Why must so many good books have cheesy titles? This was such a good book! I liked all the characters, their interactions felt real, and the details were interesting - I enjoyed a book about a time period we rarely hear about (right before end of Western Roman empire and beginning of Wetsern European Dark Ages). The only thing that would have made it better would have been an epilogue about Wulfric and Julia - we romance readers love our epilogues!
Look past the title and check out the book - I would recommend it!
I really am in love with this book and all of its wonderful characters. It'd definitely going in my shelf of 'Favorites'.
