The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (/ˈtrɪnɪdæd. təˈbeɪɡoʊ/ (listen), /- toʊ-/) is the southernmost island country in the Caribbean. The first trail to lead people from the coast to the Salmon River and Klamath River gold fields was the Trinidad Trail. This paper will explore what this trail was and recent efforts to find the remnants of this trail. The Humboldt History Symposium is an annual weekend conference bringing together renown and amateur local historians, representatives of regional historical organizations, university faculty and students, and community members. Since we were out of the mountains, the trail to Trinidad was long and straight. We easily hit 65mph on these dirt roads. After we got to Trinidad, we loaded up the truck and hit the road at around 5:30p MST. You get used to the bars just kind of ‘floating’ in your hands. Our destination was Oklahoma City. We arrived at the hotel groggy, tired, and ready to sleep at around 2:30a CST.
