I thought this novel was very well written. It was about a complicated story of love, loyalty with one character and also domestic violence with the other main character. It was simply breathtaking, and heartbreaking at once. The issues in this exquisite book are very difficult to deal with. I loved The way the author brought the two women together, and how they empowered each other was a beautiful image. This book was very good, and I would recommend it.

Do you hunger for a story that's relevant yet entertaining? Heart-rending yet heart-warming? DO NOT miss "Broken Wings," Carla Stewart's second release. Building on the strong voice and lyrical prose of her debut award-winner, "Chasing Lilacs," Stewart frames the story of a young attorney, Brooke Woodson, with that of former singing sensation Mitzi Steiner. What's the thread that entwines two dramatically different women?

Domestic violence. A will to survive. A love that transcends life's realities, like achy bones. Like Alzheimer's. Like a possible murder.

Though Stewart doesn't tippytoe around the broken bones, bruised countenances, and battered spirits that domestic violence leaves in its wake, she offers hope, healing, and joy that trumps circumstances. You'll root for these characters, then close the book and say, "Aha."

Did I mention that "Broken Wings" gifts you a love story for the ages? A blossoming romance for one who'd discarded any such notion?

Donate "Broken Wings" to your local women's shelter, hospital waiting room, or CASA library. Then get several more copies for your friends!

I really enjoyed this novel even though there were some parts that were difficult to read. It's a story about abuse of women and children and also about abuse of the elderly and Alzheimers. However, the story is also filled with love and hope and redemption. It is fairly fast-paced and interesting so that one does not want to put it down. I enjoy books that change by chapter from the past to the present and back again.

This is the 3rd novel I have read by Carla Stewart. She didn't disappoint me. Her stories are told with compassion. Enough folks have given an overview of what the story is about. Read and enjoy.

Sometimes I leave a book with a feeling of closure. This book gave me an urge to do more with my own life. It was so well written and the characters were developed wonderfully.

Such a touching book! It deals with two very timely subjects, Alzheimer's disease and domestic abuse, in a very tasteful way. We loved it.
I truly expected more from this story than what it offered. Throughout the story, I found conversation to be just plain silly. The ending was sooooo predictable!
