Pirates, Buccaneers, Marooners, those cruel but picturesque sea wolves who once infested the Spanish Main, all live in present-day conceptions in great degree as drawn by the pen and pencil of Howard Pyle. So writes Merle Johnson, who has here gathered together in one volume all of the nineteenth-century author-artist's classic pirate stories.

DO *NOT* BUY THIS.
This book is complete and utter garbage. It appears to be an ebook hastily converted into something printed. It has nonexistent typesetting work, nonexistent proofreading, muddy and stretched black-and-white images that look like a 2001-era .jpg, and has all the air of a shoddy counterfeit. I knew something was wrong the second I saw it in person, they didn't even get the aspect ratio of the cover image right! If I want an ebook I'll go to Project Gutenberg.

It was in far better condition than I expected and will be a great addition to the Hemingway Pfeiffer museum in Piggott, Arkansas. This is the book that Ernest Hemingway loved to read to his son John Hemingway while they were staying at his wife's parent's house in Piggott between 1928 and 1940.

Howard Pyle is the best writer of all! He creates a mood like no other author can!
This is the book! Gathering books from my and my parents' childhoods. This was a favorite, Pyle's illustrations are terrific especially since we had just seen an exhibit of his works in Chadd's Ford, PA.
