I surely hope the other Further Adventures books aren't presented in this fashion. Anyway, Holmes and Watson are engaged by a .

Very good Sherlock Holmes pastiche. I enjoyed the author's take on Holmes and Watson's detecting skills, blending this with another literary classic, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Very good Sherlock Holmes pastiche. Hyde. Unfortunately I never read the latter book so am unable to mention the overlaps from that book into this one but I'm sure, since the author did a bang-up job with Holmes and Watson, that he did just as well with Stevenson's novel.

Loren D. Estleman has written more than 60 books and 100s of short stories and articles. As a fan of AC Doyle's Sherlock Holmes and of Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr. Hyde, I found this book very enjoyable to read

Loren D. He specializes in mysteries and historical westerns, such as the Amos Walker series - now on its 20th volume - and his Page Murdock series. He has won many awards, including two American Mystery Awards, and has been nominated for the National Book Award. Hyde, I found this book very enjoyable to read. As usual, Estleman stays true to Doyle's Watson and Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes while looking into one of Holmes' darker cases.

It was the latest in a series of half-hearted attempts I had made to rouse Holmes from the grim reverie into which he had descended upon our emergence from the hotel in Edinburgh. had been limited to monosyllables when he chose to speak at all, which was seldom, and then only when silence became inconvenient.

the victorian rhythms and language are nicely suited to estleman, and his obvious fealty to conan doyle is both laudable and noteworthy. i usually cringe at the creaky device of "How This Forgotten Manuscript Came To Be" but the nod to estleman's private detective writings was fun. it's an interesting, lively read, made all the more fun if you know both Sherlock Holmes and Dr, Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. but--neither is mandatory.

I thought this was a really well written adventure that rolled along nicely and kept the original characters intact. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to Sherlock and I don't like alot of additions that weren't in the original stories so this pleased me. The plot line was original and worked beautifully and I enjoyed it very much. Too bad someone hasn't made a movie of it yet!

Sherlock Holmes stories are narrated by Dr. Watson. This is an elderly story, judging by the original release date, but that is not what counts. The story counts.

The Sherlock Holmes piece done by Loren Estleman is almost completely unlike anything else he has done (and if my memory of the copyright date is correct, it was one of his earliest works). While I have always loved his Detroit novels and the new pieces on California and the movie industry, the Holmes piece is very skillfully written in the manner of Arthur Conan Doyle. I can say he has succeeded in almost perfectly imitating Doyle. I can also say, as an Estleman aficionado, that I favor the more recent works of this author over this rather interesting exercise. However, I salute the dealer who sent it promptly and in perfect condition.

This Book gives the followers of Holmes & Watson that ONE MORE STORY that Doyle SHOULD have told. A FUN read with all of the Mystery of Victorian England!

Good story. Some interesting twists, even though the story of Jeckell and Hyde is well known. Worth reading if you like other Holmes stories
along these lines. I have read many of them, and this one is entertaining.
I lost this book years ago, happy to have it and read it again. Very good read for Sherlock and Hyde fans.
