Tarjei Vesaas was a novelist, short story writer, and poet, who gained fame before and after WWII in his homeland of Norway and other European countries. In 1945 Vesaas wrote HUSET I MØRKRET, House in the Dark, which was about Norway’s struggle against the invasion by Germany. In the 40’s Vesaas started to focus mostly on writing poetry, and began with the more traditionalist style, but moved later to a more modernist style. As with his poetry, Vesaas moved to a more realist approach in his stories.
