Although I love this series and this book, I really resent when amazon, publishers and authors do not make it clear that a book is not new or in digital print for the first time. I read this book when it first came out 10 years ago. Since I am a voracious reader I had forgotten enough about the book to still enjoy it. But it is time for Amazon, publishers and authors to make it clear when a book is not new, but being reintroduced. If I accidentally buy another reintroduced book I will return it to amazon. Isn’t there enough dishonesty in our environment these days without the book industry adding to it! I gave this review two stars, not because I don’t like the book, but because I am annoyed with the booksellers

So decent that I have a hard time telling the men apart from other men and women from other women.

Wiggs has created quite the cast of characters which drop in and out of the several books in the series yet each book in the series is complete in and of itself. Which I appreciate. Sure, because we keep seeing all the same villagers, we get hints of each of their stories, but not in a way that detracts from the story being told. Which I appreciate it.

I loved this book. It kept my interest throughout the entire reading. It was a fast and easy read. I enjoyed the romance in which the author left it to the imagination. I don't care to read pages and pages of all of those details. I just purchased and am now going to read book 1...and maybe the entire series. Loved Jenny and Rourke!!!
This is a good vacation, weekend, rainy day read for sure.

I love the Lakeshore Chronicles! I've read every one of these books that I can find. Susan Wiggs is one of my favorite authors. She writes wonderful stories about people you learn to care about. Her plots are captivating, her characters are interesting, her writing is excellent. This is an early book in the series, but I hadn't read it earlier. It didn't matter that I was reading it out of order, as it was nice to revisit characters that have played roles in later books. Ms. Wiggs writes powerful stories with lovely romance--and no need for blatant sex scenes, as the stories themselves are so compelling and the relationships are so well drawn.

This is one book I enjoyed. Jenny Majesky, who own's the town's bakery, falls for police chief Rourke McKnight. When Jenny's house burned, she must discover how to go on, who to love, and how to discover her true calling. A good read with humor, romance and mystery.

I bought this after reading the 1st in the series and hoped I would continue through, but although the story was good there was too much repetition and fluff to read before getting to the real point. Disappointed and will not buy the third.

Loved the book. I tend to read E-books quicker than paper books sometimes. This one I took my time with. I enjoyed the setting, the characters, and the small town charm. I went to a summer camp as a kid and worked there for a few summers as a young adult. "Camp Kioga" brought back good memories.
This is my second time reading this book, it's as good the first time. Life in Avalon is where the people who care the most about you. It's easy to hide from the past, but hard facing up to it.
