Dirty To The Grave chronicles the lives of three friends, Cha, Goldie, and Red and the true essence of their friendship, especially when a snake is ready to strike for no apparent reason other than genuine wickedness.
Red suffered horrendous abuse from her bitter white mother as a child because of her black father's abandoning them. Cha was an orphan raised in a group home who found hope in a major baller named Onyx. Onyx introduced Cha to real love and she in turn gave him a son named Onari, the night of their dreams spoken aloud was poisoned by enemies within his camp. Goldie was raised by her strong, educated mother whose life was snuffed out before her very eyes because of Goldie's innocent, immature actions by the police. Hustling ballers for their dough is this trio's game plan and they take their schemes seriously until the depth and danger causes them to take a second look at their lives.

Karen Williams has created one of the most malevolent and vilest characters that I've ever read about and she's of the female gender which is even more astonishing. The title breeds intrigue and the characters with their burdensome baggage lure you in with the grit and grime these young ladies encounter on a daily basis. Dirty to the Grave embodies sexual immorality, lies, cunning, betrayal, violence, insanity, murder, and so many more sentiments that you will be emotionally spent by the time you complete this story. I've read and relished each of Karen Williams' reads immensely but I have to give her the highest praise for this masterpiece. She executed greater heights with the depiction and development of this superbly written novel. Major kudo's to you ma'am! Kudo's! 4.50****

I really did like this book. The plot was killer, the personalities contrasted so much that they only complimented each other so you could really get to know the characters. Goldie, Cha and Red's story was really hot. However, I do have a few issues here and there. First, while the main character development was boss, the supporting characters, I feel, needed a little more details. Case and point, Goldie is not going to come up in Blues spot and pistol-whip people and just get away with that. I need to know why a killer made no moves to do what he does. Also, I had a hard time reading the story at points because some paragraphs just seemed like they were missing vital sentences. Ms. Williams is a grand writer but some stuff I had to figure out on my own and the benefit of reading a book rather than watching a movie is you get more Intel on whats really going on.
Finally, my biggest issue and the only reason I did not give this book five stars was Red. After all the dirt she did I don't think it was believable the way she went down. Come on, Goldie gets at old girl then just so happens that everyone she has beef with shows up one after the other to do her in. I mean really it just too coincidental. No I didn't want her to get off but I need something more realistic than that. I'm sitting reading and saying, "really? That's how you doing it? Really?" I understand that was supposed to be dramatic and she was supposed to get pay back for all her dirt but it was doing too much. And I don't buy her being burned alive in the middle of the street with what seemed like 50 people watching. I know Ms. Williams didn't want Goldie to kill Red because then she couldn't be with the officer and would end up in prison but it would have been better if you had Goldie be just as dirty as Red (just to show that she got that in her but opts not to be as grimy as Red) and have her kill Red in private and she just never get busted. It just really bothered me. I plan on reading this again after I get it back from the people on my waiting list to borrow it from me. I just have to warn them to let that part slide.

I guess I have read too many street lit books because this book is just like the other one. 3 girls that start out a best friends one of them is secretely jealous or treacherous of one of the crew members something bad happens and the traitor gets hers in the end. Its always like that. I just feel that she could have went deeper. Im a fan of hers and this is my least favorite book of hers
