One of Banks' special talents is his evocation of place, his feel for the Yankee sensibility and New England landscape. He's a refined writer, subtle and precise, well worth discovering. Publishers Weekly Of his novel Family Life, the poet and critic Michael Benedikt wrote, I don't know how Banks performs such magic but the result is wonderfully entertaining.
