I am so happy to have found this book, I had for some time been annoyed by the lack of imaginative books out there, most books centered on someone having a rubbish life, then something happening they go on a journey or quit their job and suddenly life is amazing, suddenly they meet the man of their dreams. But that isn't life and you build have false expectations of life from these stories, because the whole point of writing is to pick out the pieces of life no matter how dark and make them shine.. which is what this book does so well. It is so interesting and different, poetical philosophy that makes you think - She definitely writes a better sex scene then 50 shades of Grey. I love the title for the book I love the titles for the chapters and for some reason reading this book made me feel extremely happy and satisfied. Lynne McFall really knows her stuff thats for sure and she writes in such a clear and quirky way. I always love writers who can instantly take you to a place, so that you are looking through a window to a scene and everything is alive. This book has it all. So read it, do something different for a change.

This novel is based on the author's short story "Star, Tree, Hand" which appears in a Pushcart Prize Anthology. Something was lost in extending the concise and wonderful narrative of "Star, Tree, Hand" into a novel. The short story is probably one of my most favorite pieces of writing for its originality, poetic descriptions, and hilarious character dialogue. Lynne McFall paints unforgettable, original characters who define "happiness" in a wild ride countering insanity, abandonment, kindness, ironic wit, farming, and sex.

This is the sort of book that grows on you. You read it with interest and afterwards you think, ah......

It's truly lyrical and affects the reader deeply by its rhythm and mood. It captures the pain and denial of loss and its pervasive theme in one woman's life. It examines the fear of relationships and commitments - - always one step short of trust and hope.

This is a very good book, sad but hopeful.
