I'll be the first to admit it had been a long time since I read a straight romance without all the frills and excitement of fantasy and paranormal elements. I took a chance on this book after the outstanding recommendation of a friend of mine. I am so glad I did.

The author has a way with creating three-dimensional, colorful characters. The world she has created comes to life and pulls the reader in making you feel like the characters are sitting next to you and speaking. You can hear their drawl as they talk and that all too familiar texan accent in each of the scenes of dialogue, making the story seem very real. There was nothing contrived in this tale and you will truly find yourself in a whirl wind of drama and shocking twists along the way.

The story starts out with a startling revelation by Lilliana who is the Matriarch of the Evans family. This information rocks the world of many individuals. Enter Star, she's tough, independent and stubborn as hell and she's been tasked with a mission that will throw her back into the life of her long lost love. A love that she had been told long ago was forbidden.

When Star begins her journey she is forced to meet up with this old flame and sparks fly, in the litteral sense. The opening scene between Star and Case is eye popping and will leave your jaw on the floor. I was on the bike while reading from my kindle when I saw this scene. I found as I kept reading, I started peddling faster, it was that intense. I was hooked after that.

The dynamic between Star and Case will leave you wanting for the entire tale. They both love each other but their egos and pride are what keeps them separated. Not to mention that each is so independent and rebellious they cannot give in without a fight. The two are forced to come together when after aquiring the most desired real estate in Liberty Creek, Star finds herself the target of misfortune and acts so vile they are not mentioned in great detail. As Star and Case work to find out the mystery behind who is threataning to ruin Diamond Lil, they will find themselves growing closer in ways they had only dreamed of.

I highly recommend you give this book a shot, you will come away glad you did.

Very good book. I didn't understand why the Grandmother would lie to her grand daughter. Once I started reading the book I could not put it down. I am looking forward to the next book.

Great book about Star crossed lover! Ms Calhoune but her boots in this one. Can't wait to read other books by her. Hopefully Jake and Darcel have a story too.

If you love Romance novels. you'll love Liar's Web. Star, the heroine of the novel, tries to maintain her independence, but it isn't long before she has to confront her feelings for her boyfriend from back in the day, Case Matthews. This novel is sweet, sassy, and sentimental. Sandra Bell Calhoune weaves an intriguing tale of betrayal, devotion and passion.
