This one's a keeper. I stayed up all night last night reading this book, knowing I had to come to work this morning. Boy am I sleepy! But it was worth it. I could not put this book down. And this is the second time I've read it! I mean this book grips you from the very beginning and doesn't let up. This is very important because I unfortunately was not blessed with the virtue of patience and if a book has a slow start, I will put it down, sometimes throw it down or across the room even and quickly go on to something else. (I have a stack of "To be Read" books so the book I'm reading has to grab and hold me in order for me to stay with it). This one does that and more. I love the way the author gives the heroine a very unique personality. She is not like all the other romance heroines where you can pick one from one book and place her in another book without a problem. And the hero is all alpha. Love that. I am old school and I don't want my hero's to be skinny, super sensitive, catering wimps. This couple were a good match for each other and I love the way the author paced the story. The plot was multi-layered not just a bunch of fluff you can get in a thousand other books. I read this book years and years ago and spent alot of time trying to find it. I could not for the life of me, think of the name so it took a long time only using the story which I never forgot. I was estatic when I finally found it and purchased it right away on Amazon. I settled in to read it last night and it was as good if not better than I remembered. I have read alot (hundreds actually) of sc-fi romances and this is the best. I would have to say it's even better than "Lord of the Storm" by Justine Davis. Well maybe. That one's top notch too. Take a chance and buy it used on Amazon. I know you won't regret it.

Like many "futuristic" romances, and many romances in general, the author relies on cliché and has no idea how to build an interesting plot or tell a story. Why do the leads fall in love? Because they are supposed to -- it's a romance novel. They just see each other, and regardless of any other factors -- pulses pound, knees grow weak, yada yada.

For once I'd like to see desire sparked because of something other than her striking coloring, his huge biceps, his manly chin, etc. This book lacks imagination and plot structure -- and get a proofreader, people - a few typos and word usages were embarrassing.

They fall into lust too quickly, easily, and inexplicably, and the plot points are just incidental. The best stuff isn't even touched upon (like the crystal - apparently a sufficient number of pages had been reached, so time to punch the time clock on this one), loose ends (like her son) are left dangling, and legal complications (like his and her fugitive status and the disappearance of her nemesis) just fade away like morning mist and don't even need to be mentioned in passing. Why? Because who cared about the plot, anyway? We just want them to see each other, pant, fall into bed, adventure, adventure, pant again... repeat. Yawn.
