Series: Silhouette Romance (Book 1210). Mystery Man was originally published in 1997 as part of the Silhouette Romance imprint. It’s a light and fluffy romance with entertaining banter between our brooding hero and spunky heroine, a couple of adorable kids, a dash of comedy, a bit of mystery, kidnappings, and a car chase. It was an entertaining and quick read for a lazy afternoon, and it holds up well even though it’s dated. I enjoyed this story, except for one annoying incident.

I loved it. I'm a man. This is the only romance novel I've ever read in my life. And I loved it. It was fun, with a real plot.

Ten years ago Ben disapears from Megan's life. Now he is back with a new name...what happened to him and why is he being called Sheik Roeuk? Does he want Megan or does he now want the secret she has kept all these years. The child he never knew about till now? This story was written in the 90's so the base is not modern now. It's about secrets both have kept from the other. And family who interfear with love. I have read several books by Barbara Mcmahon and still enjoy the older Harleqins today.

The title of this review does not do the book justice. I enjoyed this book far more than I expected. Yes, I knew I would find the story entertaining with likable characters. Barbara McMahon tells great stories and is a wonderfully prolific author. Little did I know, however, that Sheik Daddy would be extra special and that I would find myself picking the book up several times after I'd read it, finding myself opening it at random and becoming engrossed in the story all over again! The cliche, "more than the sum of its parts," is true for this book.

Megan, during her college days, fell in love with Ben. She thought they had a future until, one day, he disappeared. She was heartbroken. To her surprise, she was also pregnant. The story begins ten years after Ben disappeared. Megan never married. She is raising their daughter, Norrie. And then comes the day when she, as a photo-journalist, is to cover the meeting between the President and Sheik Roeuk bin Shalik, an Arabian prince. And he is Ben. The Sheik had come to the States not just on official business but to find her and yet his business takes him right to her. Norrie does not know who her father is. Megan would like to keep it that way. Megan has ten years of abandonment and apparent lies preventing her from having any desire to resume a relationship with Ben or to have him begin a relationship with Norrie. However, Ben ("Roeuk") has other plans.

Even writing this review makes me want to pick up the book, open it at any point and start reading again! It is an irrestible book that is, yes, entertaining with likable characters--and much more!

This was a fun heartwarming read. I loved it.

I'm a man. This is the only romance novel I've ever read in my life. And I loved it. It was fun, with a real plot. A page-turner; I stayed up an extra hour late just so that I could come closer to finishing it.

The ending was touching as well.

If you're a man looking for a good read, I highly recommend it. (I only say "If you're a man" because I can't speak from a woman's perspective.)
