Mcclure, Marcia Lynn. I was worried about it. I decided it was probably the seasonal-style cover-you know, the pumpkin patch and overall orange tint to it. s just weren’t in the mood for pumpkins yet-though, knowing me as you do, I couldn’t imagine why anyone couldn’t be perpetually in the mood for pumpkins. Anyway, slowly The Visions of Ransom Lake began to move up the ladder. As Shackles of Honor and Dusty Britches were released over the next two consecutive years, The Visions of Ransom Lake began to gain momentum.

If you've never heard of Marcia Lynn McClure-AKA: The Queen of Kissing-or her wonderful books, then this is the book I recommend you start with. The Visions of Ransom Lake will satisfy even the most jaded of romance readers. One person found this helpful. He decides now is a good time to come back to his farm in town and settle in. Vaden is always clumsy when he is around. He doesn't like the ones her aunt shows him and wants a different type which Vaden knows where they are. Up at the top of a shelf instead of using a ladder she climbs up the shelf and thinks she has them and falls.

Visions of Ransom Lake was just as good the second time around

Visions of Ransom Lake was just as good the second time around. Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marcia Lynn McClure grew up influenced by the reminiscent stories of rugged, rural Colorado farm life fascinatingly recounted to her by her parents, grandparents, uncles and aunt. ales of runaway buckboards, mule-drawn plows and dust pneumonia; verbalized images of stream-flooded meadows, frozen over in winter, where a child could peer through the crystal clear ice in wonder at.

Visions of Ransom Lake. Published by Thriftbooks. com User, 13 years ago. Clean with no yucky suprises. Marcia Lynn McClure is one of the best authors I have found who write "clean" romance. I loved all of her books. Lots of yummy kisses. What can I say there is nothing like MmmmmmmmmMarcia's books. an apt description of Vaden.

Youthful beauty, naïve innocence, a romantic imagination thirsting for adventure-an apt description of Vaden Valmont, who would soon find the adventure and mystery she had always longed to experience-in the form of a man. A somber recluse, Ransom Lake descended from his solitary concealment in the mountains, wholly disinterested in people and their trivial affairs. And somehow, young Vaden managed to be ever in his way-either by accident or because of her own unique ability to stumble into a quandary. Yet the enigmatic Ransom Lake would involuntarily become Vaden's unwitting tutor. Through him, she would experience joy and passion the like even Vaden had never imagined. Yes, Vaden Valmont stepped innocently, yet irrevocably, into love with the secretive, seemingly callous man-Ransom Lake. But there were other life's lessons Ransom Lake would inadvertently convey to her as well. The darker side of life-despair, guilt, heartache. Would Ransom Lake be the means of Vaden's dreams come true? Or the cause of her complete desolation?

I've been a long time fan of Marcia Lynn McClure's books, her earliest books being some of my favorites, and I've read this one several times. Marcia has this amazing ability to write passionate scenes while maintaining a clean and moral standard in her books. Her kissing scenes would ignite anyone's flame and is something I've actually studied in order to understand just how she manages to convey such emotion and evoke the same emotion from her readers.

The Visions of Ransom Lake has an absolutely winning lead character. Vaden is just too likable for her own good due to her boundless curiosity and her ability to get herself into some of the most awkward, embarrassing, and entertaining situations I've ever had the pleasure to laugh out loud about. Her compassionate heart and tender emotions add a complex layer, furthering her development and solidifying her as a protagonist you long to cheer for.

Ransom is a mysterious, tortured soul whose development is just as steady and satisfying as Vaden's. His seriousness is counterbalanced by his lighthearted reaction to Vaden's antics. It is clear that there is something in his past that prevents him from moving forward with the feelings he has for the young lady, which makes the plot and the characters difficult to separate yourself from. The love that grows between them is rife with passion, tension, and dangerous obstacles that threaten Vaden's life and the love they have for one another.

Marcia's prose are descriptive and poetic and sometimes take me back to earlier pieces of classical literature that I studied in high school and college. I'm always excited to read her western and historical romances, and this book tops the list.

If you've never heard of Marcia Lynn McClure-AKA: The Queen of Kissing-or her wonderful books, then this is the book I recommend you start with. The Visions of Ransom Lake will satisfy even the most jaded of romance readers.

Vaden Valmont and her sister are spending a year with their aunt and uncle in a small town. Vaden is the naive and free spirited sister of the two. She would rather go fishing or reciting poetry sitting in a tree, then sit prim and proper at some social gathering. But Vaden is no child and has a heart and sole as big as anyone's. So when she first lays eyes on the seclusive, hermit type man, Ransom Lake, she is very curioius what had happened to him that would make him to isolate from the world and let his hair and appearance ward off any contact with others. Yet Ransom would help out anyone in need. And as it is, Vaden is always getting herself into situations where she needs to be rescued. And Ransom is always there. And in the end, finds herself falling in love with a man she knows could and never would love her in return. But Jerome Clayton has his eyes set on Vaden and constantly is in pursue of her. There is something about Mr. Jerome Clayton that just doesn't settle well with her. Yet, Vaden is afraid she will settle for him, or someone like him as she will never love a man as she loves Ransom Lake. This was the most sweet, warm, amusing, romantic story I have read in a long time. It's a very pure, but very smoldering book. I cried, laughed and went AWWWWW through it all. I would give it more stars if I could. I hated to see the book end I enjoyed it so much.

As with all of Marcia's books one can't help but fall in love with both her rugged heroes and sassy heroines. As my 2nd favorite McClure book it is one I come back to over and over again. And it may have something to do with the old west feeling of simpler times and pushy the limits of proprietary just enough that your still a lady wanting to be loved by a man that's capable. But also has to do with the fact that romance and having a soulmate is pure and wholesome not necessarily needing all the harlequin depictions that have become so common these days.

Who knew that city girl, Vaden Valmont, would find adventures, danger, love and her Happily Ever After in the western town she and her sister visit to help family in the mercantile. Who knew that the hermit, a man who rarely came into town, Ransom Lake, would wind up pretty handsome under all the scruff and would find himself enchanted with the often silly seeming Vaden Valmont. Well, Marcia Lynn McClure knew, that's who!! Oh, I am a sucker for a good historical western romance and this is one of my absolute favorites. Vaden keeps crossing paths with Ransom and he's intrigued by the curious young lady who doesn't seem to have the aversion to him that most of the townfolk do. Maybe it takes a curious, adventurous, silly young woman to break through the layers of protection Ransom has built around his heart. Their feelings build and Ransom takes to teaching young Vaden about a 'man's kisses'--ooh, la, la, delicious kissin' it is!! The setting of the town and the pumpkin fields and the apple orchards in the fall all conspire to carry you away in time and place to where anything can happen. Anything, like a young lady ending up courting the wrong young man but not knowing it, though she knows her heart calls to Ransom. And while Ransom is a vision, the title is not about catching glimpses of Ransom. He's been scarred by tragedy and loss, he's vowed to never love again, but when his heart calls him to Vaden's rescue more than once and his kissin' lessons start awakening feelings in him he'd not expected to ever feel again.... well, you'll just HAVE to get the book and find out what happens. Ransom is tied with Jackson McCall, for my favorite MLM cowboy hero. Let Marcia whisk you away to fall in the old west and maybe, just maybe, like me, you will fall in love just like it was the first time!
