Having moved to Minneapolis in the previous book I CAN SEE YOU, the sexy firefighter's company is called to the scene of what looks to be an environmental arson case, where he is unable to rescue a young woman from the burning building. Series Note: Karen Rose's books are a "same universe" type of story where the books generally don't officially tie together, but a lot of characters are related or are friends and all that. For Karen Rose never disappoints me with her books.

it's a typical Karen Rose book, it's lovely to 'meet' character from other Karen Rose books. I just wish the whole porn aspect wasn't there, it's not really great when listening when there are other ppl around esp children

The Minneapolis Series, Book 2. By: Karen Rose. Narrated by: Tara Ward. Series: The Minneapolis Series, Book 2, Romantic Suspense Series, Book 11. Length: 15 hrs and 10 mins. it's a typical Karen Rose book, it's lovely to 'meet' character from other Karen Rose books. I just wish the whole porn aspect wasn't there, it's not really great when listening when there are other ppl around esp children. That's the one thing I don't like about her books. Would you be willing to try another one of Tara Ward’s performances? No. her annoying habit of giving characters weird accents depending on their names completely ruins the book for me.

Part of the Minneapolis ( Series and Romantic Suspense ( Series).

Come, he said and Olivia’s. German shepard jumped from his truck and ran to the door. Assuming the dog knew the way, David followed. He knocked, but there was no answer. The door was unlocked, so he went in, setting off a beep and a flashing light overhead. He could hear dogs barking from somewhere behind the wall. There was a reception counter, but no receptionist

Another good read in this series. I enjoy the way Rose weaves a graphic, twisted story often ending with a shocker. While Silent Scream was intriguing, it lacked some of the intensity of previous books for me. I didn't feel quite the on-the-edge of your seat intensity, the can't-put-it down intensity, the "Oh No" intensity. I also didn't feel the emotional chemistry between David & Oliva that I wanted - that chemistry that makes me pull and cheer for characters. What I did love about this book was the intriguing plot line and seeing characters from previous books. It really adds a lot to a story when characters I know from previous stories, such as Tom, are pulled into the action. Silent Scream is a good addition to the series and another Must Read for fans of the series.

STORY BRIEF:
Olivia is a police homicide detective in Minneapolis. 2 ½ years ago she met David while visisting Chicago. While they spent the night together he said another woman's name during sex. Olivia was hurt and snuck away without leaving a note. David felt rejected and neither of them contacted the other for 2 ½ years. Since then David moved to Minneapolis where he works as a fire fighter. Four teenagers set a building on fire as a protest about saving the wetlands. Another girl had been hiding in the building and was unable to get out. She died in the fire. A serial killer was aware of the teenagers' plan, and he videotaped them setting the fire. He plans to blackmail them. During the book, we see the killer blackmailing and killing various people.

REVIEWER'S OPINION:
It's a long book. My reaction was one long police procedural with a few sex scenes thrown in. There is a lot of tedious conversation. It's mostly police discussion about evidence and what to do next. I wasn't excited about things or drawn to the characters. I was kind of frustrated. Most of my feelings were about this really creepy powerful evil guy with everyone around him being a helpless victim/pawn in his master game. My suggestion would be for the good guys to do something smart to catch the bad guy. But the hero and heroine were helpless victims as well. The main event which allows them to catch the bad guy is someone being in the wrong place at the wrong time and accidentally seeing something. So now the good guys give chase and finally win through luck - not brains or skill.

Another related item is that the police don't slowly uncover details of what and why. Instead there is one conversation between the bad guy and someone at the end of the book which explains everything. That is ok I guess, but it wasn't as fun as seeing smart cops learn this through their own efforts. It's sort of a telling all at the end.

As a romance story, it was lacking. I don't like using vague communication as the reason a couple is separated, which is what the author did here. Part of the vague communication was David making the major decision to move to be near Olivia but never contacting her. That was illogical. Also, the relationship development could have been better. However, the romance was a secondary story. Mystery lovers will probably be fine with the book.

Karen Rose is one of the best thriller writers out there. Although I stumbled over her writing while looking for another author, I am hooked. I have now read everything she has written so far and am anxiously awaiting for the next book. This book is the first book of hers I read. It is another page turner that will keep you up at night until you read the last page. And this book is exciting from page one until the end. The heros are strong, but they have their flaws and the villain is always a surprise. I highly recommend this book.

Another great story involving characters from previous books in the series. The storyline was captivating and I found myself looking forward to seeing where the characters were heading. An awesome summer read - nothing to violent or tawdry but enough spice to keep it interesting.

David is one sexy man!!! I love the interactions between him and Liv. They are perfect together.
KR draws you into the story like you are apart of it. You feel the characters' emotions.
David had me laughing because he was acting more like a police detective than a firefighter. He was really good at it too!
This was not as gruesome as KR's other novels but nonetheless a must read. Everything pulled together nicely at the end. I love the secondary characters and hope they get their own book.

very good
Another great read by Karen Rose. She takes intricate plots with interesting characters and weaves them together. This was a page turned. I was interested in both David and Olivia, but the story is what kept me turning those pages and, as always, was very sad when it ended.
