Norbert Rosing is uniquely qualified to write about polar bears. His fascination with them began in 1983 on his first visit to Canada. After a 1,000-mile train trip from Winnipeg to Churchill, he arrived to find that a sudden arctic storm had transformed the town into an icy desert. Do not pass this one by. THe World of the Polar Bear is a visual delight. To me it is the epitome of a book for a prominent spot in your home or library. 'Wonderful gift for anyone and especially one who loves wildlife.

The book is stellar because it is not only full of superior photography, but because the photography captures this beauty of nature in poses and landscapes that one could only experience up close in the wild. The work is beautiful.

The book is appropriate now because the bears face possible extinction and having such a timely book will only raise awareness of this issue and hopefully provide motivation for people to support solutions.

I find it hard to be any more specific about this book as how can one put beauty into specific words. It is what it is and I remain awed.

Since others have issued several reviews, I will just skip the same point with them.
I really love this book, along with Thorsten Milese's "Little Polar Bears", they are two my most-love polar bear books.
What are the in common with two? They are both "large" books, compared with other books. While we spend a little bit more, we get lots back. They are hardcover books, with ~200 pages inside, much more beautiful pictures and words description aside. They seem to be living in arctic area for long time, maybe one whole year, to capture precious photos like mother and cubbies in the den, hunting seals ... etc.
In this book ( Norbert Rosing ) you can find several famous pictures from National Geographic. I've found 1 for mouse pad, 3 for Desktop pictures.
If 30 dollars is not a heavy burden for you, I will strongly recommend to get this book rather than smaller and cheaper book.

This book contains some fantastic photographs. It is spare on words but it contains a good deal of fascinating information on the habits, lives and the environment of polar bears and some of the other denizens of the arctic world. Mostly though it is a photographic marvel. I purchased the paper bound edition of this book and I think the binding is better than the hard cover edition that was falling apart that I got out of the library.

This is a really good book. The pictures of the arctic and of the polar animals living up there are very beautiful. It also had some good information about the arctic ice cap and about the polar bear's life style. This book came in handy for me because I used it for a speech I was doing and gave good information. Overall, it is a good book and highly recommended.
This is a wonderful book with beautiful pictures in it. I ordered for my son who is very interested in the arctic and arctic wildlife. He will get a lot of enjoyment from this book.
