Regulation of Motivation: Goal-Directed Control Process. An Integrative Perspective on Motivational Processes. Educational Implications. In this paper, I focused on pleasure, value, and goal as principal units of analysis on psychological level because their underlying neural mechanisms have been heavily investigated and relatively well identified. I also try to propose a neuroscientific model of motivational processes in which motivation is regarded as a dynamic process and is understood as a series of detailed sub processes of generation, maintenance, and regulation of motivation.

A process theory is a system of ideas that explains how an entity changes and develops. Process theories are often contrasted with variance theories, that is, systems of ideas that explain the variance in a dependent variable based on one or more independent variables. While process theories focus on how something happens, variance theories focus on why something happens. Examples of process theories include evolution by natural selection, continental drift and the nitrogen cycle.

Keywords: personal meanings motivational processes psychology of motivation. Motivation, Consciousness and Self-Regulation. Due to all these developments the psychology of motivation is now less than totally bound with old Manichean dichotomies like cognition vs. affect, conscious vs. unconscious, internal vs. external, etc. that now seem strongly delimiting if not misleading. It is less concerned with distinguishing easily measurable stable (that is, static) dispositional variables and attempts to get a better idea of the involved processes, relationships and complex systems.
