This book is exactly what it advertises, a consise reference to fundemental ideas, concepts, Theorems, etc., pertaining to Complex Variables. But this book is definitely not worth [the money].

The author provides the reader with an intuitive introduction and overview of complex variables with a good selection of topics. I was particularly pleased to find a treatment of the Schwarz Reflection Principle (pp.95-97). Because the author does not provide even the most rudimentary proofs for the theorems treated in this volume, however, it is difficult for the reader to feel comfortable with some of the more difficult and counter-intuitive concepts within complex variables. Without proofs to guide me, I often find it difficult to even understand mathematical notation.

For a more complete and satisfying introduction to complex variables, especially for scientists and engineers, I would recommend David Ullrich's Complex Made Simple (Graduate Studies in Mathematics).

Why spend money on books like this when nearly everything can be found in Whittaker and Watson's masterpiece "A Course of Modern Analysis?" Instead of pussyfooting around your phobia of classical analysis and special functions, crush and conquer it by actually working through W & W now.

PS. "A Course of Modern Analysis" is in fact CHEAPER!!
