This is the best text in my opinion to introduce the theory and practice of multivariate analysis using matrix algebra and the General Linear Model, Y = XB, where each component is a matrix. The treatment of the Analysis of Dispersion table and degrees of freedom are clear and particularly useful. The extension to generalization of analysis of covariance to the multivariate case, Test of Additional Information, is key to understanding this advanced statistical concept and methodology. I have not found a bettor treatment from any modern text.

This book is golden as a reference for anything about regressions. However, because everything is so detailed, you may not like it as a reading book.

The book is comprehensive on classical theory of Statistics and specially the theory of least squares. I think it is one of the must have book for a graduated student or researcher of Statistics.
