Many practical pressures make it difficult to perceive or adequately consider the ethical implications of conduct. By necessity, competent, successful managers must plant their feet firmly in the practical world of compromise and expediency. This book was used in our BSW program and many of my fellow classmates thought most of the scenarios were not very realistic. Being a social worker means using common sense and some of the issues presented in the book made us wonder who would actually do some of those things. I think any MSW students would find this to be comical rather than useful or thought-provoking. But being a first year BSW student without any professional experience, I found some of the scenarios to be useful.

I was excited to get this book, as I teach social work classes and we have lengthy discussions about ethics and ethical decision making. The book has a lot of scenarios, but unfortunately most of them are "no-brainers" in terms of what the ethical decision should be. For example, there are scenarios about social workers accepting money from clients, fudging their time sheets, and having sexual relationships with clients. Perhaps this book is most appropriate for undergrad students...I teach graduate students and most of them would not find these scenarios thought-provoking. There are only a few scenarios that I feel will be challenging enough for my students. I would not buy this book again.

The scenarios are interesting, however more discussion vs the questions to further discussion would have been more helpful .

Great book. It is helpful with scenarios regarding the social work profession.
