Erdmann was the greatest scholar in the period immediately after WW2 and predecessor to much more to come.
So some of this is dated. But it is interesting in terms of a chapter that deals with fake classical rugs made by the master Tudok at the turn of the last century when the Robber Barons were paying vast sums for the earliest rugs, but whom Tudok often fooled.
Other chapters would be only of interest to those who want to learn about some of the earliest rugs and early rug history.
Many books since deal with these subjects with more depth and up to date research and more accurate attributions and terminology.

Fascinating book. The chapter on "The War Losses of the Berlin Museum " is worth the price of admission. As carpet books go this is a bargain. If you love and collect rugs you will want this book. Mostly black and white. Hours of pleasurable reading await you.
