Technical communication is a means to convey scientific, engineering, or other technical information. Individuals in a variety of contexts and with varied professional credentials engage in technical communication.

Technical communication is a means to convey scientific, engineering, or other technical information. Some individuals are designated as technical communicators or technical writers.

A required book for a technical writing course I took, Technical Communication by Mike Markel is a surprisingly good reference. The examples are rich in detail allowing you to emulate the good format using your own information. Both major writing papers due in the course had equivalents found in the book, providing constant guidance for the structure and content needed to create a professional product.

Technical communication is the process of reporting information about a technical subject regardless of it being in a written or an oral form.

These books are just a part of essential books about technical writing and communication.

Known for his student-friendly voice and eye for technology trends, Mike Markel addresses the realities of the digital workplace through fresh samples and cases, practical writing advice, and a companion Web site - TechComm Web - that continues to set the standard with content developed and maintained by the author. These books are just a part of essential books about technical writing and communication.

This was a required text for school. The writing was decent, but a lot of the information was outdated. For example, the text claimed that .org sites were only for non-profits and a tilde in the url is how you tell if a site is a personal one. The org designation was never enforced, so anyone can purchase an org domain. Thanks to affordable domain registrations and hosting, anyone can get a personal site with a "normal" url. There were other similar instances where the data was out of date, even though the publisher keeps putting out "new" editions.

I bought this old edition for my Technical Writing class in 2016. This honestly might be one of the most helpful textbooks I have ever read. The information is applicable and significantly improved my writing process and final writing products. Some of the information is outdated (web page design), but that is to be expected since it is the 11th edition. I will probably purchase the 14th edition for personal reference.

Had to buy it. I sometimes teach the class it's used for. Good for foundations of form. Good for academic purposes, but lacks a sense of real world experience in multiple corporate and government cultures under deadline.

I used this book as a text book. It was pretty good for giving examples of how to write many different technical type documents as well as guidelines for where to begin brainstorming, outlining, etc.

Just ok, it's pretty straight forward. No particularily exciting to read, but hey it's a technical writing book.
