Edward Mabley (1906-1984) was an American writer for theater, radio, and television. The majority of the files relate to Mabley's nonfiction books, Dramatic Construction and The Motor Balloon "America". Mabley was co-founder the Tatterman Marionettes, a theater company that was active from 1923 through the early 1940s. Mabley and his partner, William Duncan, pioneered the use of marionettes in advertising. The files hold multiple versions of a book Mabley adapted from Glad Tidings.

Christopher Richards Mabley (1836–1885) was the founder of a chain of department stores in the USA. He was known as "The Merchant Prince". Mabley was born on Feb 22, 1836 in St. Minver, Cornwall, England to William and Mary née Richards Mably. His first wife, Catherine, bore him at least 8 children of whom only two or three girls survived to adulthood.
