A descendant of the 19th century painter and woodblock engraver, Thomas Bewick, Pauline Bewick has been painting since she was two years old. She has lived in England, Ireland, Wales and Polynesia, with her Kerry childhood recorded by her mother, Harry, in a book entitled A Wild Taste (Methuen). Her upbringing was far from conventional and the family lived variously in a houseboat, caravan, railway carriage, workman’s hut and a gate lodge.
