Over two million American servicemen passed through Britain during the Second World War. He is also currently working part-time on a biography of . in the full range of air power campaigns which contributed to the eventual victory. That victory came at the cost of great sacrifice. By the time the war ended in August 1945,the RAAF had become an immensely powerful force. In the Pacific alone it consisted of 52 squadrons and over 130,000personnel.
