Sidelights" Paul Darcy Boles was a short story writer and novelist whose works won much acclaim. His Deadline, for example, won a Freedom Foundation citation in 1957, Parton's Island earned the Friends of American Writers' Award, and A Million Guitars received the Indiana Writers' Conference Award. A high school dropout, Boles claimed to have begun writing stories at the age of nine.
