I bought the British Columbia Destination Highways book maybe 5 yrs ago. It was recommended by a BC citizen(fellow rider on a ferry boat) on my first trip to BC. I was impressed with how the book was designed and info provided. I was really impressed when I returned to BC the 2nd time to travel those roads I missed. I've since dog-earred this book making two more trips to BC and sharing it with my buddies. This detailed book and map are just the ticket for traveling the best riding roads in Washington State. I have only driven a few of the roads so far but plan to be on as many as I can this coming year.

book by Michael S. Sanders.

Destination Highways Washington does just that in a way no one else has ever done. As you glance the book, there's no doubt you will already be familiar with many of the rides. But the fun is finding the one's you have never done. Bosworth and Sanders have done a great job of profiling many of Washington State's best roads, but if you've spent a lot of time out riding you'll notice a number of routes they missed or skipped. Camano Island, Lake Sammamish, Vashon and the stunning stretch of 101 along Wilapa Bay between highway 4 and Raymond are strangely absent from the book.

I recommend this to all of my friends. Recommended by a late and beloved friend, this is the guide to own if you want to go to cool places on a motorcycle. There's nothing else like it. It packs easily in a bag, easy to navigate, and VERY well written. I've used blurbs from this guide in my meetup rides and it really helps to know what you are getting into prior to a ride. Every ride leader should have one of these.

The most focused book I have found yet for motorcycle riding in Washington. Rating each suggested road based on twistiness, road surface and so on, is a wonderful way to judge a ride before trying it.
This book was good enough to warrant taking it with me on the bike (with such limited space) for last week's ride from California to Washington. I found the information accurate after trying several of the roads highlighted in there.
Not much fluff in the book, mostly factual and objective, not a bed-time story.

Got this as a present a few years back, and have continually had a difficult time using the book. The sellers say it is not 'a typical map or atlas', that it's 'meant for a different use'. OK, but shouldn't it be easy to move around? Pick a region on P 20-23. Now, try to find a ride, and better still, how to get to it? Better still, it's not current, some roads and turns are missing and the rider is left to guess at the next turn to stay on route.
And the reviews, broken down by DEs (destination highways) and their TEs (twisted edges) are apparently gleaned from others as the comments vary markedly in quality, depth, comprehension (tried to use it to ride around the south end of the Kitsap Penninsula, around Willocet, Arletta, Rosedale, and to Port Orchard-lots or missing directions). And page references are often incorrect, which is exciting.
Doing it again (buying it), I wouldn't.
But...for those of you who like a challenge, this is it. The sellers keep showing up at motorcycle shows so there must be some buyers somewhere (OOPS, I was one at one time). Remember PT Barnum (or WJ Fields) "there's a sucker born every minute".
