I ordered this textbook from BOOKERC as a Mother's Day present (she requested a replacement for her old high school history textbook). I was unable to order it until the Wednesday before Mother's Day, so wasn't expecting it until early the following week -- but the seller expedited my order (even made a special trip to the PO) -- and I got the book on Saturday!

Unfortunately, the book -- although spectacular and an excellent deal -- didn't suit my mother. So . . . I asked BOOKERC if they took returns, and they were as nice about this as they were everything else.

Textbook is really thorough, takes a creative, overlapping approach to U.S. history, seems well-written and researched (sources, suggestions, etc.). I would highly recommend it to anyone looking or needing a smart, up-to-date overview of the period.

And I would definitely recommend any purchase from BOOKERC, period!

I rented this book and not only did I rarely use it, it reeked of moth balls. I can't give it 1 start because it's not the authors fault. As far as the content goes, the information about U.S. history is there, however you won't learn much about any one particular thing since there is so much that needs to be cramped into 1 textbook. If you're like me however, you get the book because you have to.

I'll be talking on the behalf of just this edition, only.

Obviously for the general History 101 course; A very, very, very interesting point in history. What I like about this text is that it's not AS biased as the American history you learn in middle school and High School. The cover shows Natives for a reason, however, it's not nearly close to what the bulk of the text is about. This text has a great general coverage from the first American settlement (Yes, even the ones that drastically failed.) all the way up to the civil war.

At this point in time I am writing this review (February 5th, 2013) This book still works for most college History 101 courses, and is very similar to the newest edition to date yet.

As for condition, that will entirely depend on the seller. It is never the case where the book is in a condition where it is unmanageable. Good luck on the course, everybody!

The American Journey Volume 2 is what we've been using for our U.S. History course this semester. It's a pretty good book filled with information focusing on many important events of the history of America. I would recommend reading the book right after a lecture on the current topic just to re-enforce the information and learn some more things regarding that event. I have thus far enjoyed using this book for the class as it's not written as a stale history book but something with style. The media, aka images in the book really bring the history to life as well. :)

I purchase this book used for my daughter for this semester. Great price especially her schools was offering the book as a rental for 3xs as much.

Really enjoyed this book. It was required reading for my college history class but because of this book, it ended up being my favorite class last semester. Using the rental option worked out great and saved me money!

I was very pleased with this order as the book I received was like new. It was in exceptional shape and it actually surprised me at how nice it was. The description was that it was in good shape but it actually could have said that it was like new. I have found absolutely nothing wrong with it and have to say I would definitely order from this place again. It also shipped as stated and I got it in very good time.
I didn't even need the book. My professor had it in his syllabus, but he ended up just giving us everything we needed to know in his lectures. I read the first page, and it's easy to understand. But now I know to wait a week before buying college textbooks.
