Description

He has co-authored books on the work of Michel Foucault and Pierre Bourdieu, and also on communication and cultural literacy, globalisation, Asian cultural politics and visual culture. His most recent book is on sports culture. He is currently co-authoring a book on the work of gender theorist Judith Butler. Dr Geoff Danaher taught in the STEPS bridging program at CQUniversity.

The authors of this book have engaged with Bourdieu on his own terms, struggling to read and make sense of his texts and plot his trajectory across an enormous range of topics and themes published over almost 30 years. As they say in their own introduction, the terms and concepts which Bourdieu has contributed to the discourse of cultural studies constitute ‘arguably the most significant and successful attempt to make sense of the relationship between objective social structures and everyday practices’.

Peter Beilharz, La Trobe University. These examples are deployed very well indeed - rather than being tacked-on illustrations of an idea, they are instead used at the heart of the explanation of the ideas".
