Book Publishing WeChat. ABSTRACT: A group of binary Sn-xAg alloys (x ., . and . wt%) has been produced by a single copper roller melt-spinning technique. In this study the interaction between Fermi sphere and Brillouin zone and Hume-Rothery condition of phase stability have been verified. It is found that by increasing valence electron concentration VEC the diameter of Fermi sphere 2kF increases which leads to the increase in the diameter of Brillouin zone which arises from the decrease in volume of the unit cell.

Although there are newer and more comprehensive books on metallic alloys, Hansen stands as a classic. In addition, it's size and ease of use make it a favorite reference for a first pass for information on binary alloys of the elements. I was very happy to be able to obtain a copy for my personal library. Kudos to Amazon.

This was key to the alloy transistors which quickly replaced the point contact transistors that got Bell Labs fame.

This together with knowledge of solubility rates based upon crystal orientation allowed transistors to be built with reasonable quality control and with incredibly low cost equipment. The first transistors affordable to the electronics amateur experimenters were based upon data in this book.
