I was unsure if a book would be very helpful for fly casting, but this one definitely is. I had a little bit of instruction so I understood the basics, but this book addresses things a lot more in depth. It is well ordered to help build skills on top of each other and has the benefit of allowing you to practice at your own pace.

The writing style is easy to understand, and peppered with an appropriate amount of humor. After all, we are supposed to enjoy this, right? I highly recommend this to anybody who wants to get in to fly fishing.

Fly casting by book is a challenging undertaking for both author and reader, and so I'm typically skeptical about them. However, Mr. Lord and his photographer have done an outstanding job in communicating the essentials of the cast.
I am a reasonably experienced fly fisher. But I began to suspect I was developing some bad habits.

I took this book and went back to the fundamentals as explained by Mr. Lord and had immediate wonderful results.

Lord's explanations are the clearest I've come across, and his writing style is engaging and very clear.

I highly recommended this book to new and experienced casters. It will make a difference.

While I have not completed reading this book, it has already helped me understand some of the intricacies of fly casting. I look forward to completing it and putting it into practice.
