I bought this on behalf of a keen Barbel angler,and haven't read the book, but the little snippets I read made me feel like taking up fishing just for the thrill and skill of it- The Author's style is gentle and meandering as a British river, and is an ideal bedside book for these stressed times.

Christopher J. Yates is a British-American fiction writer and the author of two novels, Black Chalk and Grist Mill Road. Black Chalk was first published in the UK by Harvill Secker in September 2013 and in the US by Picador in August 2015. In December 2015, NPR named Black Chalk one of the best books of the year. The story of the author's love of fishing and how it developed. It tells of his early obsession with carp and how the river compelled him to move house and family nearer to its banks. While the River Avon is a central theme the author also takes us on fishing expeditions to other locations.
