As a former guide-instructor, I've looked over other published books. This one is no-nonsense (well, humor abounds too) approach, excellent illustrations, all the important knots, and real-life stories to add perspective. I've recommended the book to many other climbers and consider it an easier "Bible" than classics such as Freedom of the Hills for the majority of sport and rock climbers. I have used this book for YEARS and highly recommend it...I am ordering another one to replace the one I gave to a lead climber.

I got this for my son as a surprise for him - He said it was good - Don't know much else about it to be honest.
I thought it did cover things from beginner to advanced climber and so that was a plus/
