I recommend it. That said the book seems more a collection of multiple author notes or a transcript of an instructor talking about different topics while giving a lesson; an instructor talking to a student with tips and tricks along the way. This is not bad and perhaps what makes it easy to read, but it is not a text book for a novice.

Very well done cruising book that covers many topics that need to be considered on short and long passages. This will be a core sailing book for my Library.

What I really like about the USSA certification series is how much information they pack into a very readable, high retention format (like a good Dummies book). Well edited text, a lot of very informative graphics and a good layout with just the right amount of white/gray space makes then very easy to scan and digest.

While they are obviously intended to be used in conjunction with face to face training, they do provide a great high level perspective for the armchair sailer, and a good refresher for those of us who are finding their way back to the water and the wind.
