I know the author personally so may be a bit biased, but I thought she did an excellent job capturing essential skills for someone in the science-related business arena.
Gold as Heart Gold as Heart
Achieving maximum success in today's globally competitive business world requires scientists, engineers and business professionals to master the soft skills (e.g., communication, teamwork, and creativity) and understand the managerial and commercial needs of a venture. Unfortunately, these skills are rarely developed during a technical university education. Dr. Borbye's practical and timely book fills this gap and will help a generation of technically oriented professionals become the star employees of today and the leaders of tomorrow.

Dr. Borbye's work in building bridges between academia and industry is so relevant to science professionals, who frequently receive great technical training but few transferable skills in other areas required for a good professional career. I particularly liked the way Dr. Borbye guided the reader through assessments of their personal strengths and preferences versus industry settings. I thought her case studies also did a great job of conveying realistic challenges encountered in the work place.

This is a book I would recommend to any graduate student or post-doc, whether they wanted to stay in academia or transition to industry.
