As usual Wayne Erbsen put together a fantastic book. I had already bought his books on Fiddle playing, Flatpicking for the guitar and one for the banjo, wehn I spotted this little gem. Wayne is a fantastic introductory music teacher and accomplished musician. His books are easy to comprehend, and teach you music with a touch of humor not usually seen in music. This book is not so much a learning tool, although you will learn from reading it, as it is a continuation of his attempt to capture the music and life of old west (and other periods and places) and pass it through to the newer generations. This book includes some well known, and not so well known tunes that you could fiddle, guitar, or banjo, and includes excerpts of the life and times of a cowboy. This is a great little read for someone who is intrested, and will make an amusing bathroom or coffee table conversation piece.

This is a great book! Especially for the price. It is packed full of the classic cowboy songs in a basic easy to play format for anyone who has a bit of music knowledge and a guitar. On top of that the lingo, lore and jokes would be worth it without the music.

As per product description. Primary interest in music and lyrics, and history.
Also pretty funny! A great campfire book for anyone and inexpensive. Good addition for me as I play a little old time banjo. Many of the songs (ballads really)I have other recordings of.

Great information. This is a small book, and print is a bit difficult to read at times. Otherwise, highly recommended!

wonderful book! Loved it.
Once again some great standards. and some songs I never heard, but like them. Would like to see have had it in an 8 1/2 by 11 format to make it easier to read the music. Also some good jokes and cowboy lore. I would recommend this book.
