Publisher's Description. This book collects the recently re-discovered work of photographer Friedrich August Kotzsch, who photographed scenes from rural life on the outskirts of ry Dresden. Included among the plates are portraits, botanical photographs, landscapes, compositions with farm tools, and views of daily life chores and diversions of country life, accompanied by a biographical text with illustrations of the photographer's drawings and facsimiles of letters.

Though Kotzsch created portraits and landscape photographs for the local market, this still life and the 50 others he produced were not meant for sale.
