GRAHAM WATSON, renowned for his stunning views of competitive cycling, is the sport's premier photographer. This is a nice coffee table book chock full of beautiful photographic plates, which like the title states, are of landscapes. Granted the landscapes include cyclists, but don't be mistaken. This is more of a photographers book than a cyclist's book. If you are expecting detailed descriptions of the races, riders, and results you will be disappointed. A few minutes of leafing through this gorgeous book is all that is necessary to explain why this is so. For two decades, he has been there, capturing all the great riders in their glorious moments of triumph as well as the bleakness that comes with physical collapse and defeat.

Bicycle races present some of the most dramatic action scenes in sports. Landscapes of Cycling. Published by Thriftbooks. com User, 12 years ago. Professional cycling photographer Graham Watson has produced several books over his career, focusing on various aspects of the sport, but this one 'is the book that trumps them all for it covers everything under one title'. He makes the bold claim that 'it's the most complete photo-book ever produced by one single cycling photographer', and I certainly can't think of a stronger contender for the title. Pros: Looks at racing from a different perspective, a chance to savour some of the best and worst periods of cycling. Cons: Some of the photos will be familiar.

Bicycle races present some of the most dramatic action scenes in sports. Add to that the snowy Swiss Alps, the sunflowers of the South of France, the twisted mountain roads above the blue Mediterranean, and one has a book for both landscape lovers and bicycle enthusiasts. Organized by season, the book takes readers around the globe, from the Australian championships to the Tour de France, highlighting the majesty and grit of the sport against a backdrop of exquisite, compelling scenery. Rather, the photos are accompanied by detailed descriptions of cameras and lenses used and the efforts taken to obtain each shot. Nonetheless, I'm pleased with the purchase (bought used at a significant discount). I'm no photographer, but as someone who's spent years cycling in Europe this book brings back fond memories as it contains many photographs of peletons rolling through some of the most beautiful scenery Italy, France and other countries have to offer.
