Description

Tim is in trouble with his mum because he won't share with his little brother Jack. He goes next door to visit the twins. Kay and Kathy grew up sharing things. He plays with them all afternoon and begins to see that sharing makes things more fun. A football or a pet, for example, is so much more enjoyable if you share it with others. Tim lets Jack share his walkman. Later, Jack offers him a piece of his cake. Tim sees that once you learn to share with others, they may well learn to share with you!

My kids actually ask me to read these books. It helps them empathize with others.

Great book with easy vocabulary for children to understand and colorful pictures to hold their attention.

While it is important to explain to children why they should behave a certain way, this book is far too preachy. Reading should be fun. This book lectures and bullies the child into sharing.
The child is told if they don't share their snacks, "your friends won't like you anymore." Sounds like a bully doing the lunch money shakedown. For a child with allergies, sharing snacks can be fatal and many schools have rules against sharing for that reason.
Worse, in an attempt to show grownups sharing, there is an illustration of a man grabbing a lawnmower by the blade. Trip to the hospital anyone?
I really expected better quality from Scholastic. Kids deserve high quality, high fun books. This is not one of those.
