Like many excellent books this one had very humble beginnings. It started out as a college paper, but then people started to pass around copies of it (in the 80's) and by popular demand it was eventually published as a book. I read it 20+ years ago and applied many of the concepts to my child rearing. Now my son is 24 and in two years will be a physician. My daughter is 22, graduated Magna Cum Laude, is working in her field and is married. They are both well adjusted, happy and productive. I can say that this book played an important part in helping me put things in perspective as a parent. I highly recommend to any parent to be or parent with young children.
