He is the co-founder, with Jane Goodall, of Ethologists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, a fellow of the Animal Behavior Society and a former Guggenheim fellow. He lectures internationally on animal behavior, cognitive ethology (the study of animal minds), and behavioral ecology, and writes a science column about animal emotion for Psychology Today

Select Format: Hardcover. ISBN13:9780313332944.

The Encyclopedia of Animal Behavior will utterly engross anyone who is interested in animals and wants to know how they are like and unlike humans.

Includes bibliographical references and index. Coverage of issues, controversies, significant historical figures, and ideologies related to the treatment of animals are comprehensive. The essays cover a wide spectrum from the founding of the ASPCA and trapping, to religion and animals.

Marc Bekoff, one of our most engaging animal experts and activists, here applies the concept to human attitudes. He argues that unless we rewild ourselves, becoming profoundly reconnected to nature and fundamentally shifting our consciousness, our conservation efforts will have but limited impact. Bekoff shows that when we make the effort to not just see, but to emphatically become the seen, our perspective on animals and their habitats changes in profound ways.

Marc Bekoff is an award-winning scientist, author, and professor emeritus of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

It remains the only reference to cover the entire scope of animal rights and welfare from a global interdisciplinary perspective, with an international team of contributors assembled by Marc Bekoff covering animal treatment issues in the United States, China, India, Kenya, Australia, and many other nations. Marc Bekoff is an award-winning scientist, author, and professor emeritus of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Библиографические данные.
