Ludwig Marum was the son of Karl and Helene (Mayer) Marum. Ludwig Marum: Briefe aud dem Konzentrationslager Kislau - Elisabeth Marum-Lunau - . He was born November 11, 1882 in Frankenthal, Germany, where the family had lived for several generations. His father ran a store. During his term, Ludwig enlisted in the German army reserve to fulfill his required military service. Following the conclusion of World War I, he was named leader of the SPD in Baden and Minister of Justice in the provisional Weimar government.

On May 16, 1933 he was arrested and deported to Kislau concentration camp, where he was murdered on March 29, 1934. Photographs removed to Photograph Collection. In 1928 Ludwig Marum was elected member of the Reichstag (German Parliament) for Karlsruhe. After the Reichstag fire and the passing of the Enabling Acting of 1933, Marum was publicly deported to the Kislau concentration camp on 16 May 1933 together with six other Social Democratic Party of Germany members of the Karlsruhe Landtag.

She was the author of two books: 'Ludwig Marum Elisabeth Lunau's father, Ludwig Marum was a member of the Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands.

She was the author of two books: 'Ludwig Marum. Briefe aus dem Konzenrationslager Kislau', a collection of her father's letters, and 'Auf der Flucht in Frankreich : "Boches ici, juifs là-bas" - der Briefwechsel einer deutschen Familie im Exil 19391942', a collection of her and her relatives' letters. Elisabeth Lunau died in New York on June 5th, 1998. Elisabeth Lunau's father, Ludwig Marum was a member of the Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands (SPD) and 1914-1928 of the Landtag of Baden, serving as Minister of Justice from 1918 to 1919

Ludwig Marum (5 November 1882 – 2 April 1934) was a German politician, an early victim of the Nazi Party after it came to power in 1933. Ludwig Marum was born on 5 November 1882 to a lower-middle-class Jewish merchant's family in the town of Frankenthal in southwestern Germany. After studying law at the University of Heidelberg and in Munich, he married Johanna Benedick and practiced law in Karlsruhe where his children Elizabeth, Hans Karl and Eva Brigitte were born between 1910 and 1919.
