Clan Kirkpatrick is a Lowland armigerous Scottish clan. There are several variations of the Kirkpatrick name; Kilpatric, Kilpatrick, and Gilpatrick. The names Kirkpatrick and Kilpatrick may have been interchangeable at one time. The clan is recognised by the Court of the Lord Lyon, however the clan does not currently have a chief so recognised. The surname Kirkpatrick is also a recognized sept of Clan Douglas and Clan Colquhoun.

This short book contains commonly current used Scottish names and their meaning. One of the reviews said many were too esentric, but this is just not the case as these are popular and current Scottish names. My complaint is that I would have liked to see more uncommon and old Scottish and Pict names as well, such as Mor, Drust, and Taskill as I use these kind of books for coming up with names of characters not actually baby names. The book does have a nice cover and binding though and has 137 pages with large print. I also own "A Dictionary of First Names (Oxford Quick Reference)" which has an appedix section of Scottish names which is more useful and has more names which I have given five stars.

I'm not disappointed with the book - it's a good quality. But most of the names in there were too eccentric. Any name I could see actually using was in any regular baby book already. It was just more of the same names with a few weird ones added.
