Review of: Mystic Wolf

Author: Veronique Gullick

ISBN: 1-4137-8562-7

Immediately forming a mental image of the characters is to me a sign the author has done a good job to develop them. And she did so in an extraordinary way because she included the imaginative fantasy of shapeshifting. Shapeshifting is a trait where certain humans can transform into another kind of mammal. The characters are compelling, attractive, and as the reader would come to know, intensely passionate beings who come together in love expressed in the ultimate physical expressions we know about and enjoy ourselves.

Mystic Wolf is a highly charged piece that along the way takes one into a wonderful view of erotica between loving men and women--while the author writes about loving that is full of action, pulsing, and hot, it is artistically done and not pornographic. I enjoyed the scenes throughout the work and could feel the sensations as I was reading. One line she wrote that I picked early exemplifies her vivid style and rich talent:

"Droplets of water fell to her face and the only thing he needed in life was to be able to lick the droplets from her lips."

The book is scenic, captivating in the genre' and laced together finely and appropriately throughout with well crafted erotica. One can transfer the story and the ideas through her words to different emotions and feelings; one can sense a reality. Rich dialog, a good story line--her interesting and sometimes poetic use of the language--combines to provide the reader with a world to escape to in order to fantasize a while. I enjoyed her style and found it a book that enriched my own work to improve the presentation of ideas through words.

Her use of a different, unique language challenges the reader to keep up--she provides the definition of the new words which is helpful. She didn't need to use it in my view but its use is not too much of a distraction so it's fine--it makes it a higher level book to read. It's apparent she worked hard to deliver consistency as far as the symbols combined with letters that are part of the language in the parallel world of shapeshifters.

I recommend the book to fanciers and collectors of science fiction, fantasy and erotica. It is one to be enjoyed and read again--perhaps several times.
