If you are like me, then you'll read any horror that you can get your hands on -- both good and bad. I'm happy to say that Demon, by Peter Mark May was a very entertaining read. There's sex, action, demons and a big dog named Cerberus.

The premise: Demons have been invading earth, tucking themselves into powerful and secure positions all over the world to begin their "hostile takeover". It is up to a member of an ancient society (Nathaniel), an unwitting victim (Dela) and a group of ghost hunters to foil the plot.

A particularly good part was the chase scene out of a large corporate building. It was really well written and a page turner. The characters Nathaniel and Dela are easy to like (Dela is a hottie) and the dog is the best.

While it took a while to actually receive the book (comes from London) it was well worth the wait.

I didn't know what to expect when I picked up "Demon" by Peter Mark May, but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Peter interwove demons from Hell into a modern setting, with style and grace. The pace was consistent and the narrative was easy to follow. It was a nice change of pace from the normal hack-and-slash horror that seems to permeate the market these days. "Demon" left me with the possibility that it really could happen. Well done, Peter.

Bought the book, and could not believe how poor it was. I read the first twenty pages and gave up - what a waste of money! The narrative was corny and the writing style clumsy and disjoint. How on earth did it get to print? One to keep clear of.Demon - Peter May - paperback
