Earth is on the brink of catastrophe. The vital foodstuffs supplied by its Martian colony are being poisoned. This is young Isaac Asimov's first novel, full of wonders and ideas, the book that launched the novels of the Galactic Empire, culminating in the Foundation series. Asimov, Clarke and Heinlein all began getting works published in the late 1930s. Clarke was first in 1937 and '38 while Asimov and Heinlein scored in 1939. I think I read every book published by Heinlein and enjoyed them all. I also read the original three books in the Dune series by Herbert and more Asimov books than I can count. Originally Answered: Why are Isaac Asimov (author), Arthur C. Clarke and Robert A. Heinlein (author) called the Big-Three of Science Fiction? When I started reading SF the big three were Isaac Asimov (author), Robert A. Heinlein, and Frank Herbert. I was given a copy of Stranger in a Strange Land and got hooked.

Dated to be sure, but you can hear his good natured humor still. He liked to stfetch your imagination and confound you too.

I've always enjoyed Issac Asimov's science essays. Really nice to have them in Kindle format. My paperback copies are worn out!
