Description

Book III. The Miracle Planet Revealed. This is the concluding volume in the three-part novel of Tarot.

Book III. Cover illustration by Rowena Morill. The second volume, Vision of Tarot, explained the religious background of the quest, including the graphic reenactment of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Though the present volume is a unified tour of Hell, the novel should be more intelligible and meaningful if the reader goes through the prior two volumes.

I'm not a big fan of this series. Piers Anthony like Stephen King seems to go hot or cold with me and this was definitely a cold one. Not recommended.

On far Tarot dreams come true-and fanged nightmares stalk the land. I'm not a big fan of this series.

Third in the series-the miracle planet is revealed. Thomas Carlyle (1795–1881) was one of the most influential authors of the nineteenth century. Eagerly studied at the highest level of intellectual society, his satirical essays and perceptive historical biographies caused him to be regarded for much of the Victorian period as a literary genius and eminent social philosopher.

I wanted to read this due to having read the other two in the trilogy decades ago. It wasn't memorable but I'm glad I read it as know I know how it ended. This version was used but in excellent condition.

To go the whole religious hog, you have to go to Hell, baby.

Which, given he is on the planet Tarot, Paul can undertake in a somewhat literal sense, and does so. This can be seen in the somewhat cool Rowena cover for the book, to give you the idea.

After a bit of the sort of stuff you would expect, he sets about tying some of it together:
"I offer a rationale," the Rt. Rev. Crowder said. "Let us surmise that, for the benefit of the Universe or at least the Galactic Cluster, it is necessary to educate a series of sapient entities in a very special way. High-Kirlian-Aura creatures to be suitable tools, perhaps fashioned from imperfect clay, yet tailored to the need. Call them Herald the Healer, or Melody of Mintaka, or Flint of Outworldââ,¬âor Paul of Tarot. Perhaps even Jesus of Christ. Assume that these entities, properly prepared, will set in motion currents that will in the course of several millennia preserve the entire Cluster from needless and ironic destruction. As by devising or reconstituting a deck of cards whose images evoke key understandings on critical occasionsââ,¬â"

I read the Tarot series only knowing it was by my favorite author. Piers Anthony has a way of making the reader think....especially concerning long taught ways in our social upbringing. He has made me ponder the meanings of religion (formed and free spirited) on more than one occasion. His hero, Brother Paul, is the epitome of man. Bravo, Anthony!!! You should add more to this series on the world of Tarot.

I'm half way threw the second one. This is a good series for learning about religions. It really gets down to the point of meaning. Why we're here without any religious garbage.
