The Magic Ladder to Success was written in 1930; only one year after the Great Depression brought the nation to its knees. I have been trying to find original prints of Napoleon Hill's books and had not read "The Magic Ladder To Success" so I purchased this version to read. As a background this book was published in 1930, seven years before Hill's most well known book "Think and Grow Rich". I actually found the discussion about the Master Mind far more in depth that "Think and Grow Rich". He made it the first lesson in the book and almost one third of the book is devoted to the Master Mind. I like how Hill really gets to the spirituality of the Master Mind. In Hill's time, the Master Mind in all of the writings by the self-development pioneers referred to the Master Mind in a spiritual sense. He dwells on harmony as the nucleus of the Master Mind saying "Harmony is the nucleus around which the state of mind knows as the "Master Mind" must be developed. Without this element of harmony there can be no Master Mind, a truth which cannot be repeated too often."
I actually found The Magic Ladder to Success much easier to read than Think and Grow Rich. Not sure exactly how to explain it except Think and Grow Rich is more like a sermon to me and The Magic Ladder to Success is more like a mentor providing guidance. While The Magic Ladder to Success is stronger regarding the Master Mind (62 pages), the other sixteen chapters are less than ten pages each.

I recommend this book. I have re-read The Magic Ladder to Success three times now. And like Think and Grow Rich, I found it to be a very valuable book.

This is a question to the sellers of this book. I was curious about whether this edition of this book is the original text, exactly as written by the great Mr. Hill, or one of those "revised and updated for the 21st century" types. There are plenty of "revised" editions available out there, but I'm more interested in hearing the words straight from the man's mouth (or pen, as it were), without someone else's ideas, about how they might be interpreted to apply to some contempoary examples, stuffed in there for show.

So, if you're a seller and happen to see this, I'd greatly apreciate any light you can shed, as I'd like to eventually aquire all of Mr. Hills books, but I'd prefer to end up with the ones that he wrote himself, as he wrote them.
Hill is famous for TRYING to make money by writing books with ideas he stole from other writers, He was good at changing a word here and there but he NEVER understood any thing he was writing about. He even admitted in his books he never experienced any of the goals he taught and wrote about. I have several of Hill's books and they are all lacking in understanding. He writes about a meeting with all of these famous business people where picks their brains for ideas and their secrets of success, Goes on and on about these conversations in great detail , makes you feel like you are in the room getting everything firsthand. Hill must be quite a big deal if all of these owners of the biggest corporations in the world have time to talk to him about how they made it to the top. And then you learn that all of this took place in Hill's MIND. That's right, He just thought this meeting took place. He writes about walking around a building hundred's of times in the middle of the night talking to himself, frustrated that his life is a complete failure, all of this while he is writing and lecturing about SUCCESS. He eventually loses every thing he has and is living off the income of his wife. He is a great writer only because he copied famous writers that came before him. Do yourself good and just get the message firsthand , study people like Ernest Holmes and Fenwicke L. Holmes.
