These representatives have organised vigilante groups in their respective regions and directly prevailed upon such groups to defame, threaten, and sometimes physically harm Shugden practitioners.

Western Shugden Society circulated a text filled with fierce denouncements - A Great Deception: The Ruling Lamas’ Policies.

I finished undergraduate school and then began studying teaching in 2007, right when a new entity known as the Western Shugden Society circulated a text filled with fierce denouncements - A Great Deception: The Ruling Lamas’ Policies. The Dalai Lama was giving a teaching about the Four Noble Truths in Radio City Music Hall - an event much-anticipated by Tibetan Buddhists and the Western Shugden Society alike.

* Exposes the intermingling of politics and religion in Tibetan Buddhism worldwide. • Reveals the Dalai Lama behind the public mask and the detrimental effect politics has on pure Buddhist doctrine. A courageous and compelling account of Tibetan history and the activities of the current Dalai Lama that stand in stark contrast to popular perceptions of a “holy” politician. With an extensive compilation of news stories, documents, personal accounts, and chronologies, a tangle of religion and politics is revealed that plays out in Tibetan exile communities and across the international stage, embodied in the person of the 14th Dalai Lama. The aims of this book are religious—to end an illegal ban on a mainstream Buddhist practice that the Dalai Lama has personally rejected and maligned. However, to get to the heart of this human rights issue and to gain the support of those who can affect its resolution, the book endeavors to follow knotted threads of political ambitions, deception, greed, and betrayal to unravel the popular mythology that surrounds the iconic Dalai Lama of Tibet. Some good information, but a lot of accusations without a single proof. Mere rumors or gossip. It is disappointing. For me, the confrontation between Geshe Kelsang and Dalai Lama XIV is far beyond a religious problem, but instead a matter of power and money. I read two books from the Dalai Lama XIV supporters and it is almost the same. Not enough truth come along from both sides. Well, when religion or spirituality is mixed with politics and money, religion/spirituality always lose. We all know this, but they continue to do the same year after year. In the middle of it, where is The Buddha, where is Buddhism, where is Enlightenment? Furthermore, the method to search for reincarnated lamas was totally destroyed during s.XX; is of no use any longer. For the last 50 years most of the selection of the important reincarnated lamas are mere political facts. It is a pity to see this!

All the expectations met - no complain.

Surprising material. Gives real insight into the political side of Tibetan Buddhism. History that you don't get from Hollywood and the popular media. I would say it's a must read for anyone involved with Tibetan Buddhism. I have re-read it a number of times.

This book gives some great clarity and understanding to the Dalia Lamas dishonesty. The Dalia lama is a typical pollination that says one thing and turns around to and does the opposite. I have lost a great deal of respect for the Dalia Lama. Clearly he is not a peace loving man, and needs to leave people with different religious beliefs alone. The book also makes me grateful that I live in the United States of America where I have freedom of religion.

This is not a real objective critique of what is going on, only one side of the story. This book is not even signed, it removes all credibility. It doesn't feel like it was written by true buddhists. It is very harsh, it goes completely againts what buddhism stands for.

The world of the Dalai Lama is so restricted from outsiders. I heard that the Dalai Lama engages in these activities before from the French TV. I've never read any of the book that gave me such depth of insight. This is a must read for anyone studying The Dalai Lama's activities. If I knew when I was younger that the Dalai Lama employed his close relatives as his ministers, heads of state and officials I would've had a different outlook on him years ago.

Thank you so much for writing this wonderful book and give me so many insights that I will never have a chance to discover & research on my own.

Everyone should have this information about the Dalai Lama politics. Why is the truth being hidden? It seems intentional!I've checked the sources on this book and read the opposing opinions...this seems to be the only true story.
This book is disgusting.

It is unlike any other book written about the Dalai Lama, who escaped from Tibet in 1959 following Tibet's overthrow by Mao Zedong as part of his expansion of his communist revolution in China.

According to the book's authors, "Achieving...(the book's)...aims depends solely on whether the present Dalai Lama will accept the four points set out at the conclusion of Chapter 4 of this book." The book seeks to change what it calls political policies of the Dalai Lama.

The book is marketed as a spiritual solution to a political problem - the Dalai Lama's role as historical spiritual and political leader of Tibet, i.e., until 1959. However, there is nothing spiritual, or positive, constructive or inspiring, about this book.

The book attempts to grind away everything positive about the Dalai Lama's life-long trek to teach and practice compassion and call attention to his homeland (Tibet). This year, the Dalai Lama will be 76 years old.

About half of this book appeared before as a free pamphlet, titled The Tibetan Situation Today, distributed at political protest rallies against the Dalai Lama. The book is structured as a destructive exposé, calling the Dalai Lama a falsified Tibetan leader (chapter 2), a dictator (chapter 3) a hypocrite (chapter 4) and a collaborator with Nazis (through pictures and text).

The book claims "in February 1998 posters of the Ten Most Hated Enemies of the Dalai Lama and Tibet were circulated throughout Tibetan settlements in India and Nepal...they were complete with photographs and biographical information, and encouraged Tibetan people to kill these ten innocent Dorje Shugden practitioners. Since they were first published, this list has been distributed to Tibetan communities throughout the world."

The book claims that Kelsang Gyatso was the first name on the list (this individual presides over a British cult, principle authors of this book). The book adds, "if in the future any of these ten people is killed then the Western Shugden Society will automatically recognize the principal perpetrator as the Dalai Lama himself and will pursue necessary investigative and legal action to ensure his eventual conviction under criminal law."

Dorje Shugden is a controversial spirit or ghost that the book claims began with the 1656 murder of Dragpa Gyaltsen by the Fifth Dalai Lama. According to the book, "Having destroyed the life of Tulku Dragma Gyaltsen and established his religious authority over Tibet, the Fifth Dalai Lama then moved to establish his political authority."

The book holds the Dalai Lama responsible for the historical Mongol feudal legacy in Tibet since the time of Genghis Khan (1162-1227).

I wonder if realizes the horrible false allegations in this book aimed at the Dalai Lama. None of the other books sold on about the Dalai Lama or written by him contain such disgusting material.
