When Paul Twitchell made Eckankar known to the modern world in 1965, he separated spiritual truths from the cultural trappings which had surrounded them

When Paul Twitchell made Eckankar known to the modern world in 1965, he separated spiritual truths from the cultural trappings which had surrounded them. Average people could begin to experience the Light and Sound of God while still living a happy, steady, and productive life. Paul Twitchell was born in Kentucky in the early part of the twentieth century and served in the US Navy during the Second World War.

Stranger by the River has been added to your Cart. This is a beautiful book. It is a poetic evocation of the training Paul Twitchell had becoming a spiritual master under Rebazar Tarzs. The great thing about this book is that the chapters are short but deep, you can ease into a deep spiritual truth in just a few pages of reading. It is designed for contemplation, read and then drift off into the inner worlds. I like reading a chapter just before going to sleep.

Paul Twitchell (born Jacob Paul Twitchell) (died September 17, 1971) was an American spiritual lecturer and writer, pulp fiction author, and founder of the religion known as Eckankar. He was accepted by the Eckankar members as the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master from October 22, 1965 until his death. He created and directed the development of Eckankar as a new spiritual teaching. He stated in his writings that his spiritual name is Peddar Zaskq.

Stranger by the River book. Another terrific book from late Paul Twitchell. What is most interesting about this and his other books are the way they change when I return to read them again. I always gather new insights and learning each time I open one of these. This is one of his best works and one that I will return to again and again.

Amongst others, even the Priest wanted to know who wrote the words. This treatise on Divine Love gives insights into the nature of God and love in our lives. This book takes you on a journey where you may place yourself in the first person character and literally experience each situation as the seeker. Sometimes you need to read passages over and over to absorb the rhythm generated therein. As I progressed a calming effect was felt right to the end yet leaving you yearning for divine grace and mercy.

The sheer intimacy of this poetry dealing with spiritual things, truly takes one's breath away. It's like getting a massage from the inside out from head to toe. It talks about a higher power and one falls in love with that higher power yet in the end one falls in love with oneself.

Shimmering vibrant images, thought provoking phrases float off the pages re-igniting some deep long repressed yearning for answers. Such is this lyrical, almost poetic tale. For example, "The wind ruffled the willows and whipped up the surface of the river. The Tibetan walked slowly along the bank studying the sunlight that glistened upon the water, and the seeker followed, watching every movement of the magnificient figure in his maroon robe". or"Love is like a slow , consuming fire which starts in the center of man's heart and slowly moves outward, destroying all that is in its path. Nothing can stop love, and even when it appears to be quenched, it will break out somewhere else. So it is with freedom".I also liked, the passage on being a magnet of Love. I like this book. After I finished reading it, the words, the rhythm remained in my mind resonating like a Mozart Sonata. Akin to Gibran's, "The Prophet" or even the ancient songs of David. Thought-provoking and profound.

This book is what I would describe as spiritual poetry. It takes the read on a satisfying journey of the spiritual worlds and provides a glimpse into our true selves. It is beautifully written and is sure to be a book you will remember.

A spiritual classic! I already owned a physical copy, but was pleased to find a Kindle version as well, so I purchased it and am very glad they decided to release an ebook version!

I love reading this book because each time I pick it up I learn something new, some new phrase catches my eye and leads me into a meditative contemplation. Not only I learn something new, but also, I feel transported to another time, to India, to the river, to the stranger. Beautiful, well written and never gets old. Great as a gift too. This is my second copy.
This book show me I was not alone in the way I thought about life and the afterlife. It lead me to a teaching that change my life for the better.
